A scientific collaboration between Bordeaux and Grenoble to
unravel the mystery of trypanosome lipid droplets.
The Project Leaders
The OIL project emerged from the collaboration between two experts with complementary skills. Loïc Rivière (Bordeaux) contributes his expertise in functional genomics
and the cellular biology of the parasite, while Cyrille Botté (Grenoble) leads cutting-edge analyses in metabolomics and lipidomics.
Together, they provide strategic coordination for the consortium to address the challenges of basic research on trypanosomes

The scientific team
Our strength lies in the dynamism of our young researchers and engineers. From the lab bench to the analysis of complex data, the OIL project’s scientific team explores the biology of lipid droplets through innovative approaches. Their work, which has regularly been recognized at international conferences, sheds light on the metabolic adaptation mechanisms of the Trypanosoma brucei parasite.

Laboratory and Supervision
The OIL project draws on the complementary expertise of two leading
research units: the MFP laboratory in Bordeaux and the IAB in Grenoble.
This consortium enjoys the support and recognition of major
national institutions (CNRS, INSERM) and universities, ensuring a
world-class scientific environment for the study of trypanosomes.
Institutions & Funders
The OIL project has enjoyed strong institutional support and financial backing from the French National Research Agency (ANR) since July 2024.
Our work is driven by a commitment to excellence and supported by leading research institutions such as the University of Bordeaux, the CNRS, and INSERM, as well as the specialized LabEx PARAFRAP network.
This multi-institutional collaboration ensures the quality and scope of our research on parasite biology.
Technology Platforms
The success of the OIL project depends on access to state-of-the-art infrastructure. We work closely with leading technology platforms in Bordeaux and Grenoble that specialize in cellular imaging, proteomics, and lipidomics.
These support centers provide us with the high-precision tools needed to explore the molecular and structural complexity of trypanosomes.
